Isthmian League North
Stowmarket Town 4
Match Report: Iain van der Ree
Stowmarket avenge the heavy defeat by Tilbury in October, with an identical scoreline.
Stowmarket travelled to the EMR stadium looking to continue their impressive showing in their first season in the Isthmian League North. Stow made the most of the early exchanges when striker George Bugg collected a through ball and breezed through the home defences to coolly slot the ball past the oncoming keeper. With neither side looking as if they would be adding further to the scoring the first half ended at 0-1.
Frustration exuded from the dugout, when Stow comfortably in opposition territory saw Tilbury break down a play and move the ball quickly up field to level the score ten minutes into the second half, through Sam Jeremiah. The Dockers attempted to contain the Old Gold and Blacks; however, manager Paul Musgrove was clearly having none of it and made three inspired substitutions, which changed the course of the game. New Leiston signing Ben Hunter was fouled on a mazy run into the box and it was left to Josh Mayhew to restore Stow’s lead from the spot.
Willie Clemons took little time from the restart to increase the visitors lead with the goal from just inside the box. A ruthless Stowmarket added further to scoring, through a foul on Clemons leaving Mayhew to take his second penalty with aplomb. Stowmarket remain second in the table.
