Stowmarket Town will host Norwich CBS in the third round of the Buildbase FA Vase at Greens Meadow next weekend.

The Old Gold and Blacks were handed a home tie in Monday’s draw, against either Norwich or May & Baker Eastbrook Community, who played out their second-round tie yesterday afternoon.

And it was a late goal from Craig Bussens which sealed a 2-1 win for the hosts Norwich, after Jamie North’s first-half opener was cancelled out by Carl Patten, for May & Baker, in the second half.

The Thurlow Nunn League First Division North side will make the trip to Greens Meadow next Saturday (3pm) to face Stow, with a place in the last 32 of the national competition up for grabs.

Ticket details for the third-round tie will be announced in due course, once confirmed by the board of directors.

Elsewhere yesterday, there was a winning start for new Stowmarket Town A manager Chris Burch, as his side won 4-3 away at Bacton United A in League C of the Macron Suffolk & Ipswich League.

A brace from James Graham, along with goals from Luke Bates and Kavanagh Warner, sealed a first win of the season for the A’s and took them off the bottom of the table.
