Stow Make Double Signing
Stowmarket Town are delighted to announce the signings of George Bugg and Evan Collard on dual registration terms.
Bugg returns for his second spell at Greens Meadow, having scored 19 goals in Stow’s Thurlow Nunn League First Division title-winning season in 2016-17.
The striker left Stow early on the following season to join Premier Division rivals Walsham-le-Willows, before stepping up to play higher up the pyramid for Witham Town and Brightlingsea Regent.
Midfielder Collard has also signed up with the Old Gold and Blacks on dual registration terms, from Witham Town, ahead of the weekend.
Formerly at Ipswich Town’s academy, Collard continued his development at Needham Market and was a regular in the Marketmen’s reserves last season, and has also made two appearances for Long Melford this season.
“George fancies a fresh challenge,” Stow manager Rick Andrews said. “He wants to keep the Step 3 door open, which I understand.
“He definitely offers us something different than the other strikers we’ve got. He’s left us and proved himself at a higher level, regularly scoring at Step 4 and Step 3. It will be nice to have him back.
“Evan’s a young lad who has done well in Needham’s reserves. Kevin Horlock and Arron Hall both spoke highly of him.
“By joining us he’ll be surrounded by quality players, like he was at Needham, and hopefully we can bring his game on and he can make an impact for us.
“I would like to say thank you to both Brightlingsea and Witham for their assistance. Both players will be in the squad for tomorrow’s game, subject to the paperwork going through in time.”
