Stowmarket Town’s 2020-21 league campaign is set to be curtailed, following an update released from The FA on Wednesday.

Stow have not played in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division since October last year, a 2-2 draw at Mildenhall Town which stretched the club’s unbeaten league record to 39 games.

National restrictions put in place due to Covid-19 then put the season on hold and, following the government’s revealed plans on when football can resume earlier this week, The FA put out an update of their own last night.

Clubs at Steps 3-6 recently took part in a survey to put forward their views on how the 2020-21 season should be resolved, with more than 76 per cent preferring to curtail the campaign if football could not be restarted with limited spectator capacity and hospitality before April 1.

The FA’s alliance and leagues committee have reached a consensus that, subject to the approval of The FA Council, the 2020-21 league season for Steps 3-6 should be curtailed with immediate effect, with no further league matches taking place this season.
