Round up from Craig Brown reserves manager
Firstly, I would like to say how great it is to finally have football back.
I would also like to welcome the new Under-18s management to the club. I’m looking forward to working with them.
On that note, I’ve known Liam for a lot of years and believe, with his help, we can progress as many youth players through to the Reserves, and eventually the first team. That is ours and the club’s aim.
On to pre season and obviously Covid was still playing a part, having to help the first team when some of their players were in isolation.
I’ve got a massive squad and, with the new youngsters stepping up, it gave me a great opportunity to see what they can do.
I used 16 young players in pre season and every single one of them held their own. That’s fantastic and exactly what I was hoping for.
We started our pre-season friendlies with a 2-0 defeat to Thetford, but then we pushed on winning six games on the bounce to gain some much-needed confidence.
We start our season away at Diss Town on Saturday, and we are still the champions of our division, as the last two seasons have been cancelled.
We will do our upmost to defend the title, but at the same time it is about getting the right balance between the youth and the old guard.
