Stowmarket Town Reserves fought back from 4-0 down to draw 4-4 at Thetford Town Reserves at the weekend.

Stow were hoping to end a run of two straight defeats in the Thurlow Nunn Reserve League, but found themselves up against it at Mundford Road as the hosts scored four unanswered goals to lead 4-0.

A brace from Ryan Cane, and goals from Artur Visocanskis and Brandon Slaytor, handed Thetford a commanding lead, while Stow’s tough afternoon saw them reduced to 10 men when Tom Goddard was shown a red card.

But Craig Brown’s men rallied as a hat-trick from captain James Graham, and a goal from substitute Tom Gould, ensured Stow rescued a point.

The draw leaves Stow in sixth place in the Thurlow Nunn Reserve League heading into back-to-back home games, starting against Cornard United Reserves next Saturday (3pm).

Elsewhere at the weekend, Stowmarket Town A were beaten 13-1 by leaders Walsham-le-Willows B in League C of the Macron Suffolk & Ipswich League.

Stow A manager Mark Watts has stepped down in charge and the club would like to thank him for his efforts.

Stowmarket Town Under-18s dropped to the bottom of the Thurlow Nunn Youth League Central table after losing 10-0 at home to Leiston Under-18s last Thursday.
