Stowmarket Town Reserves climbed to the top of the Thurlow Nunn Reserve League after beating Thetford Town Reserves 6-2 at the weekend.

Luke Bates netted a hat-trick and James Graham, Ben Licence and the returning Elliot Ballard also found the target, as Stow continued their unbeaten start to the new season.

Robert Darvell and Liam Levy Twomey grabbed Thetford’s two goals at Greens Meadow, but Stow proved to be too strong and took all the points on Saturday.

Stow are one of three sides on seven points, along with Walsham-le-Willows Reserves and Long Melford Reserves, the latter of whom Craig Brown’s men visit next this weekend.

Elsewhere, Stowmarket Town A‘s tough start to life in League C of the Macron Suffolk & Ipswich League continued, losing 6-0 at Somersham Reserves on Saturday.

On Thursday last week, Stowmarket Town Under-18s kicked off their Thurlow Nunn Youth League Central campaign with a 5-0 defeat at Woodbridge Town Under-18s.
