Stowmarket Town got their pre-season friendlies off to a winning start with a 1-0 victory away at Great Yarmouth Town.

Rick Andrews’ men made the trip to Norfolk today for their first pre-season outing, and first fixture since mid-March, and in front of no paying spectators, due to current restrictions relating to Covid-19.

New signing Charlie Clarke made his mark by scoring the game’s only goal, netting from close range after 72 minutes to ensure Stow went home with a win to kick-off their preparations for the upcoming season.

Elsewhere, Stowmarket Town Reserves grabbed their first win of pre-season, as a brace from Sam Turner helped them come from a goal behind to win 2-1 at Old Newton United Reserves this afternoon.

Stowmarket Town A‘s scheduled friendly with Kedington United was called off.
