Stowmarket bow out of F.A Cup to Suffolk rivals Sudbury

Stowmarket started out this replay tie looking like the better side, piling on the pressure from the get-go.

23 minutes in the in-form Ed Upson took advantage of a freekick opportunity on edge of the Sudbury box, perfectly placing the ball into the top left.

But against the flow of play Sudbury’s Nmandi Nwachuku answered back with calm finish into the bottom right.

The game’s dynamic switched to end-to-end action going into the second half, with Sudbury pushing Stowmarket back.

Sudbury number five Joe Grimwood answered a whipped in corner with a crashing header into the back of the net, before Reggie Lambe then equalised minutes later for Stowmarket at the other end.

Both teams battled it out deep into added time, before Stowmarket had their hopes dashed by Sudbury fullback Oliver Caley-Brown who guided his headed attempt off the crossbar and in.

Stowmarket sadly exit the cup competition as Sudbury now look ahead to another Suffolk clash against Bury Town F.C.
