Lakenheath FC 0

Stowmarket Town 3

Match Report: Iain van der Ree

Stowmarket cruise through to the Semi-Final of the Premier Cup with a brace from Luke Brown.

Stowmarket Town buoyed by their win on Saturday against Grays were in confident mood as they took on Lakenheath away in the Quarter Finals of the Suffolk Premier Cup. The Old Gold & Blacks took little time in securing the opening goal when George Bugg collected a through ball and passed the ball into the net in the 13th minute. Some spirited defending from Lakenheath delayed the inevitable as Luke Brown hit a superb strike on the turn passed Charlie Beckwith in goal. Brown picked up his second of the evening from a corner that came off several players bouncing kindly in the air for a simple nod in.

Lakenheath showed some steel and resilience in the second half and tested in form James Bradbrook on a couple of occasions in the Stow goal. Reggie Lambe who replaced Josh Mayhew in the second half went through on goal only to encounter some magnificent defending from Lee Hammond on the goal line. Keeper Beckwith looked calmed and assured in goal and was very much instrumental in preventing Stow from adding to the scoring as Stowmarket go into the Semi-Final hat.

Stowmarket travel to Hashtag on Saturday in the Isthmian League North looking to continue their promotion push.
