Chris Burch has stepped down as manager of Stowmarket Town’s A team.

The former Stow Reserves player took charge following the team’s first manager Mark Watts’ departure in October last year.

Burch managed two fixtures for the A Team, a 4-3 win away at Bacton United 89 A, and a 6-2 home defeat to Saxmundham Sports Reserves, in December, before the national lockdown brought the Macron Suffolk & Ipswich League season to a halt.

“Unfortunately, due to being self employed and my work commitments, I won’t be able to give the team the time and dedication they need,” Burch said.

“All I can say is thank you to the club for the opportunity they gave me to help out when I was needed, and the help they gave me, Face, Jimmy and Tubes, and to the reserves who helped me too.

“To the players I leave behind, be proud of the way you performed under me. The talent is there, the energy is back in the side and the fire is lit ready for a new manager to come in.

“Stick together, fight every second and never give up. Remember who you are representing, friends, family and Stowmarket Town FC.

“All the best and you never know, one day I might be back, but for now I’ll just enjoy watching the games.”

The club would like to thank Chris for his efforts and applications are now being taken for his replacement. Please contact Michael Prentice on 07809 879873 for more information.
