Stowmarket Community Sports & Social Club CIC are pleased to announce that they have secured a 99 year lease at Greens Meadow with MSDC and the Church Trust, landlords of the ground.

The new agreement extends our tenure which began in 1983 and brings opportunities to improve the facilities for the good of the community and our main tenant, Stowmarket Town FC.

“It has taken many years of negotiations, meetings and presentations to reach this point,” said John Griffin, COO of the CIC. “But thanks to the support of our brilliant volunteers and key members of the district council, we are at last able to move forward and to start implementing our exciting plans.”

Stowmarket Town FC, who were promoted to Step 4 at the end of season 2020 – 2021, can also start to develop areas of the ground which will allow them to maintain their league status. Chairperson, Neil Sharp, was first to express his gratitude to all the individuals involved, but in particular representatives of MSDC, MSDC chairperson Paul Ekpenyong and our solicitors Gudgeons Prentice. “Knowing that we now have a home, takes a great deal of pressure off the club, however, we don’t have time to stand back and admire the effort, we need to keep driving forward and will do just that.”

Both the CIC and the football club are always looking for volunteers to help run and develop their businesses. So if you have some spare time and want to give something back to the community, making it a better place for the people of Stowmarket, please get in touch via the email address: info@stowmarkettownfc.co.uk
